It was a quintuple bypass...

As the title said, Bear got a quintuple bypass, not a triple, Monday afternoon. He was on the ventilator all night, and they pulled it this morning. He is himself, though feeling run over by a truck. He drifts in and out of sleep, and I am doing quiet things next to him so he can see me if he wakes up.

I am doing very well, since I went home about eleven after seeing him and slept til eight am. The only sleep problems I had related to sharing the bed with two cats.

I am, however, going to have to get the power and water back on before he can come home. They want to run a sleep study before he leaves so as to determine whether he actually has sleep apnea or not, and that means he may go home with orders to have a CPAP. And if he has a CPAP, he just won't be able to sleep without power on. That's all.

I am maintaining a positive mood, because everything is working really wonderfully. My sons met their genetic brother, who I had given up for adoption at birth. He is autistic, but you would not know that if you met him. (The spectrum suspicion would start with some acquaintance, but that's true of my oldest son and I, as well.) J wanted to meet his brothers, and at sixteen, he's old enough to know his own mind in the matter, and his mother respected it. My boys wanted to meet him too, so they met here in their father's hospital room before surgery, and got along quite well. They all like each other not just as family but as people.

So that is our happy outcome, on many fronts. Thank you all for all your prayers and good thoughts, and please continue them while he recovers.
